The Institute of Radical Chemistry, ICR (UMR7273), is a Joint Research Unit under the tutorship of the University of Aix-Marseille and the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS). Created on the 1st of January, 2012, ICR is attached to CNRS Chemistry. From a scientific point of view, the creation of the ICR resulted from the strong will to bring together the complementary skills of research teams specialized in radical chemistry and to associate the expertise of two teams, specialized in the modeling and in the characterization of (macro-)molecules.
The main objective of the ICR is twofold:
The ICR is organized into 8 teams whose research activities encompass several interfaces between radical chemistry, organic synthesis, simulations, materials or even biology. Seven teams (CMO, CRAB, CROPS, CT, SACS, SMBSO, SREP) are located on the Saint-Jérôme campus, Av. Esc. Normandie Niemen, 13397 Marseille Cedex 20; the PCR and SMBSO teams are located in the premises of the Faculty of Pharmacy of Marseille, 27 Bd Jean Moulin, 13385 MARSEILLE Cedex 05.
